I developed the following five-part series to look beyond the headlines surrounding the Bureau of Land Management's Wild Horse & Burro Program. Rather than telling a single story, the series tells five interconnected stories, each offering a different perspective - from the land, the horses, the science, the professionals who manage public lands and the adopters who give these animals a second chance. I'm especially proud of the approach behind it. The series reflects my belief that the best communication doesn't persuade, it informs, builds understanding and helps people see the bigger picture

Training provides insight into 'greater need'
U.S. Army Africa continues to provide training to different African nations to help them secure their own borders, thereby helping them secure the region.

Italian, U.S. celebrate Armed Forces Day
Maj. Gen. David R. Hogg, commander of U.S. Army Africa, salutes during a ceremony observing Italian Armed Forces Day known as Giorno delle Forze Armate. The ceremony took place Nov. 5 in Vicenza, Italy. Additionally, personnel from the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team participated with Italian military counterparts and veterans in a ceremony held the center of the city. Giorno delle Forze Armate is considered a day of national unity commemorating the Allied victory of World War I and pays tribute to Italian armed forces.
WINN Opens Pediatric Pharmacy
Winn Army Community Hospital (WINN) officially opened the doors of its own Pediatric Pharmacy following a ribbon cutting ceremony May 3.
The inception of the pharmacy is a result of feedback from the Fort Stewart community -- the community commented on Pharmacy wait times and the inconvenience of having to wait for prescriptions after an appointment.
WINN Enhances Physical Training
Warrior Transition Battalion squad leaders, platoon sergeants, occupational therapists and physical therapists from Forts Stewart, Eustis, Polk, Leonard Wood, Bliss, Knox, Meade and the Warrior Transition Center in Virginia converged on Winn Army Community Hospital's Warrior Transition Battalion for a "Train the Trainer" clinic, Sept. 21-23.

U.S. 'train the trainer' in Africa
As part of the ongoing U.S. Department of State Africa Contingency Operations Training & Assistance (ACOTA) program, three U.S. Army Africa (USARAF) Soldiers are mentoring members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) on basic soldiering skills in preparation for the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISON).
